Calcutta House in Philadelphia provides housing
and care to men and women who are homeless and diagnosed with AIDS. They
help their clients live their lives to the fullest by caring for them
in a highly supportive environment.
Our relationship began in August 1998 with a hardware and software
assessment that provided management with an understanding of what it would
take to update the organization’s existing network. Based on the
information in the assessment, the board made available the necessary funds
to upgrade 5 workstations, purchase a new server, and install the
SBS network operating system in January 1999. Since then, CH's IT requirements
have expanded and become more complex. Over the years their primary server
has been upgraded and replaced twice and it now supports two sites, remote
users, and has been augmented by a Terminal Server and a backup controller at
the second site. Dual WAN failover routers were installed and will allow for
uninterrupted service should one or the other ISP fail.
